Issuance of American visas to Brazilians increased by 40% in March, according to data from the US Consular Affairs Office. There were 106,000 visas in March, compared to 75,000 in February.
According to D4U Immigration, an immigration advisory company, the approach of the July holidays and the task force of the North American consulates to reduce the queue for issuing visas are factors that explain the monthly increase.
In São Paulo, the waiting list to receive a tourist visa (B1/B2) exceeds 580 days. At American consulates in other cities, the queue is a little shorter: 476 days in Brasilia, 457 days in Rio de Janeiro, and 417 days in Recife.
