The Minister of Planning, Simone Tebet, said this Monday (8) that the Executive Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, Gabriel Galípolo, will “pacify” the economic agenda at the Central Bank. Finance Minister Fernando Haddad confirmed Galípolo’s appointment to the Central Bank’s Monetary Policy Board. Haddad also appointed Ailton Aquino to the Supervisory Board. The nominations must still be analyzed by the Senate.

“He will contribute a lot to pacify this agenda. I think he has already done what he had to give in terms of politicization. He is a prepared person, who will be the voice of the federal government, the voice of Brazil within the Central Bank has the capacity , has experience, has dialogue and has a good relationship with the president of the Central Bank. It has everything to work out. It was a good choice by Minister Fernando Haddad”, said Tebet.

The president of the Federal Senate, Rodrigo Pacheco (PSD-MG), also evaluated Galípolo’s nomination positively, informed Agência Brasil. “[Galípolo] has an excellent dialogue with the National Congress. So, I see myself as someone with the proper predicates to occupy this position”, said the president of the Senate after an event at the Federation of Industries of the State of São Paulo (Fiesp), in the capital of São Paulo. “I see it with a lot of optimism. It is a name that certainly pleases the Federal Senate”, said Pacheco.
