Union asks Hollywood actors to avoid wearing studio-related costumes on Halloween

Actors’ unions walked off film sets in July in protest over better contractual conditions
No Barbie or Spider-Man. Actors across the United States may have to adapt their Halloween plans as the Hollywood Actors Guild has asked its 160,000 members to avoid dressing up as characters linked to the studios they are striking against.
This leaves options such as “Barbie”, from Warner Bros, Marvel superheroes, from Disney, and “Stranger Things”, from Netflix, out of the list for America’s favorite holiday.
In a publication with tips on strike-friendly practices for Halloween, SAG-AFTRA suggests that its members dress up as “generalized characters and figures (ghost, zombie, spider, etc.)”.
Actors can also create costumes based on characters from animated TV series, which are not part of the current strike.
“Let’s use our collective power to send a loud and clear message to our striking employers that we will not promote their content without a fair contract!” the post reads.
SAG-AFTRA members walked off film sets in July in protest for better contractual conditions and protections against the use of artificial intelligence in the industry.
With almost 100 days of strike, last week, negotiations with studio representatives abruptly collapsed.
Only recently did the studios reach an agreement with Hollywood screenwriters to end the other strike, which lasted nearly 150 days. The first double strike in 60 years paralyzed the entertainment industry.
