Union and states create public building management network – 08/22/2023 – Panel SA

Not knowing exactly what to do with its buildings, the federal government teamed up with Consad (National Council of State Secretaries of Administration) and launched, this Wednesday (23), the National Public Heritage Network.
The idea is to create management models that can be shared by the entities of the federation.
Currently, the Union has more than 700,000 properties, 10,000 of which are unoccupied, without adequate maintenance and at risk of invasion.
On the other hand, data from the TCU (Tribunal de Contas da União) indicate that annual expenses with rents reach R$ 1.6 billion and another R$ 180 million are spent on condominium fees.
The total value of the Union’s real estate assets is R$ 1.36 trillion and what draws attention, according to the TCU, is the pace of depreciation of these assets —R$ 18 billion per year.
