Sao Paulo-SP) – Hospitalized since February 25th after undergoing a kidney transplant, presenter Fausto Silva was discharged from Albert Einstein Hospital, in São Paulo, this Friday morning (12).

According to the medical team, the procedure was necessary due to the worsening of chronic kidney disease and was possible after the hospital contacted the São Paulo State Transplant Center.

Initially, the organ did not work in his body and about a month ago the presenter underwent embolization so that the transplanted kidney began to function. According to nephrologist Juliana Torritani, a transplanted kidney can take a few days or even weeks to function.

The medical discharge report was signed by the nephrologist and medical coordinator of kidney transplantation at Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein, Marcelino Durão, by the cardiologist Fernando Bacal and the medical director of hospital services, Miguel Cendoroglo Neto.

Faustão also underwent a heart transplant

Fausto Silva was hospitalized for the first time on August 5th, after experiencing heart failure. He had to be included on the transplant waiting list, after registering a worsening in the organ’s pumping strength. On August 27, the presenter, who was in second place on the list, received a heart after the first patient refused.

Faustão was discharged on September 10th and celebrated on social media. He made a video to thank the donor’s family and took the opportunity to make an appeal about the importance of organ donation.

“The mission continues, to increasingly remove prejudice and misinformation. So that everyone is aware of this”, stated the presenter.
