In yet another confusion, Twitter recovered the blue seal from some accounts on the social network, a day after taking down the badge of thousands of users and defining that only paying users would be entitled to the feature.

The return of verification on some famous and media profiles began to be noticed this Saturday (22). Felipe Neto, who has 16 million followers and is critical of Twitter Blue, received the seal back, according to him, even without having done anything. He said the initiative was a way to “encourage more people to pay”.

“Elon Musk not only came back with verification from thousands of relevant people on Twitter,” he wrote, “he put up a notice as if everyone had subscribed to Twitter Blue, to encourage more people to pay. It’s cheating, pure and simple. “

The influencer accused the platform of counterfeiting and, after a few days, had the symbol removed again. The report sought out Neto to find out how the second removal took place, but has not yet received a response.

STF Minister Alexandre de Moraes was also described as a subscriber to the platform’s service and displays the blue seal on his official account.

Interlocutors of the magistrate told Metrópoles, however, that Moraes doesn’t even know what Twitter Blue is.

He is the only one among the Supreme Court ministers present on the network to have his account verified – and the only one with more than one million followers.

Other users reported having recovered the icon even without paying. In common, they all have more than a million followers.

Musk tweeted last week that he was personally paying for subscriptions to some distinguished users, even without consent. Among them basketball player Lebron James and writer Stephen King. In response, King stated that the tycoon should donate the value of the stamp to charity.

Highly unpopular, the paid version of the social network is being resisted for charging too much for features that were previously free and for fostering the growth of fake accounts on the network. Blue icons, for example, have been the target of boycotts through the hashtag #BlockTheBlue. Users fear the impression that they are supporting network changes.
