Tupinanquim Festival holds an event in honor of Comic Book Day, in Manaus

Event brings together several groups from the geek world in a free event, at Palacete Provincial

Manaus (AM) – The 1st Tupinanquim Festival will be held this weekend, on the 27th and 28th, at the Palacete Provincial (Praça Heliodoro Balbi, Centro), from 10am to 7pm, to bring together those passionate about Pop Culture, comics and the nerd world. The event has free entry and is free to all audiences.

Focusing on National Comic Book Day, celebrated on January 30th, the Festival brings together visual artists from different niches, fan clubs and online and offline games, such as boardgames and Augmented Reality, and workshops for those who want to learn how to draw or improve their techniques.

“Everything is free to the public, from games with Pokémon Go to a cartoon workshop that will be taught by artist Romahs Mascarenhas, screenwriter for Turma da Mônica”,

pointed out the CEO of 1 Minuto Nerd and general coordinator of the 1st TupiNanquim Festival, Átila Simonsen.

Held by the creatives 1 Minuto Nerd and Geek One, the event has support from the State Government, through the Secretariat of Culture and Creative Economy (SEC-AM), “which understands and encourages the entrepreneurship of designers and artisans participating in the event” , said Attila.

Varied programming

The 1st Tupinanquim Festival will have workshops, round tables and a wide range of chats, as well as exhibitions that will amaze the public that goes to the Provincial Palace. Starting on Saturday (27th), from 10am, there will be a Rocket Building Workshop using PET bottles. Also on the first day, there are rounds of board games and Pokémon card trading, among other activities.

For the 28th, the sci-fi character creation and comic book cover workshops will be taught by Carol Peace and Leon Sarmento, respectively. In the auditorium, the Empire Diorama exhibition brings scenes from classic films from the geek world to the public. Furthermore, it is possible to learn, in practice, how to draw in Cartoon and Nanking styles.

The Creative Economy Fair takes place in partnership with the Feira das Cores and Swordplay will be teaching archery and the principles of the sport. “In the chats, we will talk about National Mythology and Folklore in comics, what’s coming in Star Wars in 2024, in addition to the activities of the Fun Vacations project”concludes Attila.
