Truck drivers want details on fuel prices – 05/04/2023 – Panel SA

The statement made this Wednesday (5th) by the Minister of Mines and Energy, Alexandre Silveira, about a change in the fuel price policy caught the attention of truck drivers’ leaders, but the drivers want more details.
For Wallace Landim, Chorão, one of the leaders who emerged in the great stoppage of 2018, there is a lack of planning.
“We have become hostage to the big importers of diesel and gasoline. So, through this speech by the minister, about the end or change of the PPI, what is Petrobras planning for us to become self-sufficient in refining?”, he says he.
José Roberto Stringasci, from the ANTB (National Transport Association of Brazil), says that Silveira’s new statements do not yet represent a definition about the change in the model called PPI (import parity price).
“He still hasn’t pointed out any direction of how this change will be. He hasn’t shown clearly what they want. So far, nothing has been defined”, says Stringasci.
In an interview with Globonews this Wednesday morning, Minister Alexandre Silveira announced that Petrobras will change its commercial policy after the election of the new council and even coined a name for the new model, PCI (internal competitiveness price), which, according to him, would reduce the price of diesel by up to R$ 0.25 per liter. The declarations angered the top of Petrobras.
