Tour in Portuguese visits famous Belgian breweries – 02/27/2024 – Copo Cheio

One of the four brewing schools in the world, the Belgian is known for having dozens of traditional styles, including abbey beers and the desired Trappist beers, produced inside monasteries. It’s the country that created the refreshing witbier, but it’s also home to the sour geuze.

With so much variation, little Belgium becomes a true tourist paradise for beer lovers.

With an eye on Brazilian connoisseurs, the Bem Belga agency (from Brussels, but made up of Brazilians) organized a special tour in Portuguese, in partnership with Passaporte Cervejeiro, which visits some of the beer temples that abound there.

The Tour de Geuze 2024 runs from April 28th to May 5th and includes visits to bars and breweries, with cultural and historical tips — because beer is also culture.

The entire trip will be guided by sommelières Daiane Colla, representative of the Brussels Beer Challenge in Brazil, and Fernanda Meybom, co-author of the book “Guia da Sommelieria de Cervejas”. Both are also members of Passaporte Cervejeiro, which organizes the tour every two years for groups of eight to 15 people, depending on demand.

During the period, it will be possible to visit the Orval abbey, which houses an interactive museum and famous ruins, in addition to producing one of the desired Trappists — this humble blogger visited Orval and guarantees that it is very worth it. In fact, a morning at the In de Vrede café, next to the Westvleteren monastery, probably the most exclusive Trappist in the world, is also part of the itinerary, due to the difficulty in finding it.

Visits to the very traditional Duvel, Malheur and De Koninck are also on the tour, which reserves a day for an immersion in the wonderful world of lambic beers.

The package costs 2,827 euros per person (around R$15,000), with accommodation in a double room. In addition to accommodation, breakfast at the hotel and travel are included in the prices. Flights, travel insurance and extra beers must be paid separately.
