Toll tariffs on highways in the state of São Paulo will be readjusted as of this Saturday, July 1st. The correction takes place every year and is part of the state road concession contract. The readjustments vary according to the type of contract, and there are highways where there will be a drop.

The new values defined by Artesp (Regulatory Agency for Delegated Public Transport Services of the State of São Paulo) were published in the Official Gazette of the State of SP this Thursday (29).

In the case of highways managed by CCR, there will be an increase of R$ 0.10 in tariffs. The adjustment will apply to AutoBan, SPVias and RodoAnel Oeste. According to the concessionaire, the measure aims to reduce the company’s losses because of the coronavirus pandemic.

In the others, the increase applied varies according to the inflation measured by the IPCA (National Index of Prices to the Extended Consumer), which is the official inflation of the country, or the IGP-M (General Price Index – Market), used in rental contracts and which had a sharp drop in the last 12 months.

In the case of the Anhanguera-Bandeirantes System, Intervias, Via Oeste, Auto Raposo Tavares concessionaire, ViaRondon, SPVia, Ecovias and Ecopistas, the increase will be 3.93%, based on the IPCA from June 2022 to May 2023.

The roads managed by the concessionaire Rodovia dos Tamoios SA will have a readjustment of 3.48%. The tariffs of the highways managed by Tebe, Renovias and the concessionaire Rodovias das Colinas will fall by 4.46%, based on the IGP-M of June 2022 and May 2023.

CCR says it will replace pandemic losses

In a statement to the CVM (Securities and Exchange Commission), CCR says that the readjustment is a “precautionary measure to mitigate the imbalance resulting from the losses incurred from the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic on the demand of the concessionaires”.

The concessionaire signed a contractual amendment with the state government for one of its subsidiaries. ViaOeste extended the concession period for the Castello Branco-Raposo Tavares road system by 410 days, and will manage the road until March 29, 2025.

Previous increase was in December

In December 2022, the state government authorized tariff readjustments. The reason was the postponement of the increase in prices in July of that year, due to the elections. At the time, the readjustment reached 11.73% in the case of the busiest highways in the state.

In the Anchieta-Imigrantes system, in the so-called “beach toll”, those who leave the capital towards the south coast of São Paulo now pay R$ 33.80, a rate that will be valid until 23:59 this Friday (30). On the Rodoanel, the West Section toll rose to R$ 2.80 and should increase again this Saturday.

The final rates were not disclosed by Artesp, but should be made available by the companies on their websites as soon as they start to take effect.
