The governor of Tocantins, Wanderlei Barbosa (Republicans), started this week on a trip to Estonia to try to make contracts with technology companies feasible.

The European country is one of the most advanced in the world in the digital structuring of civil and criminal data.

On Monday (29), the governor’s entourage held a meeting with the Brazilian company X-Via, responsible for installing in Mato Grosso and Piauí a system capable of interoperating data from all state agencies.

This Tuesday (30th), Barbosa participated in a conference on public governance in which he learned how coordination is carried out and what are the main technologies used in Estonia. The country’s Prime Minister, Kaja Kallas, attended the event.

The governor also visited the Brazilian ambassador in Estonia, José Antônio Piras. One of the objectives of the government of Tocantins is to open an office in Tallinn to strengthen relations with the European Union.

As Panel SA showed, ten Brazilian states (AC, AL, AP, BA, ES, GO, MA, MT, SC and SE) have already started a data integration plan based on the Estonian system. In the first stage, a civil database will be unified, such as license plates —a process that should be completed by the end of the year.

The second step will be the unification of criminal data for each state, an investment of up to R$ 4 million. For him, a citizen who committed the crime in one state will not be invisible when moving to another, as is currently the case.

According to information from the government of Tocantins, the trip was organized by Estonia Hub, a company that promotes business between Brazil and Estonia.
