The manufacturer of waterproof products Pantaneiro Capas intends to invest close to R$ 6.5 million, with the transfer of the factory to the city of Canoas. With a planned installation in an area of 8,208.75 m², on Rua Antônio Frederico Ozanan, the initial forecast is that the textile company will generate 600 direct and indirect jobs in the municipality.
In a meeting on Friday morning (24), members of the Management Committee (GC) of the City Hall of Canoas, discussed the legal procedures of the land donation project that will be forwarded, after completion, to the Municipal Legislative. The idea of public management is to attract companies to the territory of Canoas through deliberation of the Municipal Development Fund of Canoas (Fumdecan).
“It is another important investment that we managed to attract to the city, through our promotion policy. We are concentrating efforts to streamline processes and facilitate the installation of new companies, ensuring more jobs, income and economic development. As I have said, we are partners with those who want to invest in Canoas”, said the acting mayor, Nedy Marques.
With more than 20 years in the market, Pantaneiro Capas is currently located in the city of São Leopoldo, and has an average annual production of one million products, such as raincoats, PPE, windbreakers and accessories. Last year, the company’s revenue was nearly R$ 73 million.
“The transfer to Canoas is scheduled for 30 days after the execution of the works. Work must be carried out over a period of 120 to 180 days. The estimate is a 60% increase in the manufacture of the company’s products”, highlights the Secretary for Economic Development, Tourism and Innovation, Marcus Vinícius Quinho.
The counterparts signaled by the company to the City Hall are not limited to projecting jobs. An agreement with the Municipality foresees a professionalization project in partnership with Banco de Oportunidades; the promotion of local commerce by generating employment and income, as well as the promotion of the textile sector in the city.
In addition to production on the factory premises, the company plans to hire more than 20 outsourced companies (ateliers), which even allows individual entrepreneurs to work from home.
