Tarcísio expands program to tourist districts in SP – 04/09/2023 – Panel SA

The government of Tarcísio de Freitas in São Paulo will release this Monday (10) data on the progress in attracting tourists and investments to Olímpia, Serra Azul and Andradina, during the administration of former governor João Doria.

Established as the first tourist district in the state by Doria, in 2021, Olímpia recorded in January the best performance in the historical series with 1 million tourists, according to the city’s occupancy bulletin.

Last year, the municipality hosted 3.5 million tourists, up 20% compared to the previous record, 2019. The months with the highest accommodation records were January (448 thousand people), July (373 thousand) and December (410 thousand). The data disregard tourists who were passing through the city.

Serra Azul, an arch that brings together the municipalities of Vinhedo, Jundiaí, Itupeva and Louveira, received 4 million visitors this summer. The investment forecast for the next four years is R$ 1.8 billion, in addition to the creation of a golf club with accommodation, a race track, new themed hotels linked to the Wet’n Wild and Hopi Hari parks, among other attractions.

Created in September, the Andradina tourist district ended the summer with more than 130,000 visitors, driven by Thermas Acqualinda.

The Secretariat of Tourism is also going to launch a new system of guidelines and management for tourist districts, in addition to a forum to discuss public policies to encourage the creation of new districts with differentiated tax treatment. The government’s forecast is to reach 2026 with seven new districts.
