Students from the rural area participate in the theatrical presentation ‘O Sumiço da Yara’

The event was attended by more than 250 students.

Manaus (AM) – The City of Manaus, in partnership with the Ministry of Culture (MinC), took to 11 schools in the rural area, from the Municipal Department of Education (Semed), the theatrical presentation “O Sumiço da Yara”. The show, which took place this Thursday, 8/24, at the Abílio Alencar municipal school, on the AM-010 highway, kilometer 35, had the participation of more than 250 students, from 1st to 4th grade and even from 6 th year, from Padre Calleri and Ester schools.

The action is coordinated by Semed’s Management of Complementary Activities and Special Programs (GACPE). According to the manager of GACPE, Mário Jorge Lima, the theatrical work received full support from Mayor David Almeida and the municipal secretary of Education, Professor Dulce Almeida.

“This type of event is supported by our managers, mayor David Almeida and secretary Dulce, who are concerned with culture and art. Being able to offer this show to students in the rural area is a unique moment, as many of them saw a play for the first time”,

commented Mario.

In all, there were seven presentations, with the participation of 1,400 children and adolescents. The purpose of the play is to make students aware of the importance of preserving the environment.

“Talking about theater in rural areas is a very big challenge, but with the support of the mayor and the secretary, we are managing to offer several types of languages. Performing art within the rural area is something unprecedented, because our students come from several branches and rivers to be able to participate in this cultural moment”,

said the head of the Zonal District Division (DDZ) Rural, Rosa Denize.

Student Gabriela Carmo, from the 8th grade, approved the activity. “The presentation was really cool, we learned about the environment through a play. Getting out of the books and seeing these characters up close was very interesting, I’m sure everyone paid much more attention and learned about the care we should have with nature”,

said the student.

Lasting approximately 45 minutes, the characters Yara, Saci, Curupira, Amarílis, spirit of nature and Polineia, who would be the pollution of the forest, made a presentation with a lot of music, comedy and mainly with a dialogue about the importance of taking care of the fauna and flora. All this involving the disappearance of Yara, who for some reason stopped singing.

The piece is produced by Walkmar Produções, has the support of Vida Flat and SSP Produções and is sponsored by Novartis.

For Fernanda Pavan, who plays Yara, coming to Manaus, where the legend takes place, is a significant experience. “Bringing this message of care and preservation with nature to the children of Manaus is a wonderful experience and right here where the legend originates. We want to show them that Polineia really exists and if we don’t take care of it, we can lose our most precious assets”,
