Manaus (AM) – Fashion Design student at Faculdade Santa Teresa, Jerusa Flores, was one of the highlights of the Amazon Poranga Fashion show, an event that will promote cultural entrepreneurship through art and fashion in the Amazon.
Alongside stylists from the region, Jerusa Flores presented a mini collection with six models, all inspired by elements of Marajoara indigenous culture, such as ceramics and architecture. The collection, she says, brought party fashion pieces with graphic details and colors characteristic of the Marajoara people.
“The idea was to show the public that our culture can be present in everyday life, including party clothes”,
highlighted.
According to Jerusa, the experience of all the development of the pieces, from design, to modeling and making, was unique. “Being able to see my creations on the catwalk, and alongside stylists with experience in the fashion market, was very special. Experiencing all the expectations and feedback from the public was also something incredible”, he highlighted.
Student of the second period of the Fashion Design course, Jerusa is the daughter of a seamstress, she always liked the area and worked with the manufacture of clothes, from wedding dresses to lab coats.
“I took several courses, even started college and didn’t continue. When the Fashion Design course at Santa Teresa appeared, I decided to go back to school, mainly to acquire technical knowledge and all the learning acquired has been very rewarding”,
observed.
Production
According to the coordinator of the FST Fashion Design course, Cidarta Gautama, enabling students to have, from the first period, practical contact with the segment, has been one of the main focuses of the institution.
“In addition to Amazon Poranga, our students have already participated in the production of important events, such as São Paulo Fashion Week. This enhances the curriculum and broadens the students’ view of the countless opportunities that the profession allows”,
pointed.
At Amazon Poranga Fashion, in addition to Jerusa Flores, who signed one of the fashion shows, another 18 students, a teacher and the coordinator participated in the event, working in the production, choice of models and curatorship of the pieces in the exhibition “Artes e Povos Originários”, which was presented at the Povos das Amazônia Cultural Center.
The Amazon Poranga Fashion program ends this Thursday (29), with a fashion show in Parintins. The stylists Maurício Duarte and Rita Prossi participate in the action, in addition to guest artists from the municipality.
