Spaten creates campaign in the setting of ‘The Last Kingdom’ – 05/18/2023 – Copo Full

Spaten’s new campaign has overproduction features, the kind that appear during the Super Bowl halftime. No animated extras in Bavarian clothes shouting “prost” to publicize the new piece of beer created in Munich, which is part of Ambev’s portfolio.

Filmed in Hungary, in a scenario used by the series “The Last Kingdom” (Netflix), the commercial features a kind of wanderer from the middle ages arriving on horseback at a tavern, a kind of bar for brutes.

There, warriors from different ethnicities and different eras mix, as if it were a multiverse of brute force. From the pirate to the African warrior, from the 70’s gangster to the Indian fort painted for action, from the American cowboy to the Viking barbarian, everyone is there, in an atmosphere of few friends.

After entering the tavern and ordering his beer (Spaten, of course), the protagonist goes to the piano and starts playing and singing the chorus of “Sweet Child ‘O Mine”, by Guns N’ Roses, which soon turns into the warriors’ chorus , pacifying the environment.

The fun commercial is directed by Vellas (“Archangel Renegade”) and is produced by Krisztina Fehér, responsible for makeup/hair in productions such as “Blade Runner 2049” and “Cavaleiro da Lua” (Disney+ series).

“We have interesting characters that people will identify as references for what we see today in great series and movies. We drank from different sources throughout the script exactly to bring this connection with the world of entertainment”, comments Vellas.

A 2’30” version was presented to the press and guests. This Thursday (18), the commercial debuts a reduced version, of one minute, in the intermission of the global telenovela “Terra e Paixão” (see above). The campaign will also be reproduced in some movie theaters in the country. The extended film, unfortunately, is not yet available.

Spaten is one of the six official beers of Oktoberfest Munich — the others are Augustiner, Hofbräu, Hacker Pschorr, Lowenbrau and Paulaner. The Ambev label will also be the main one at the party in Blumenau. In São Paulo, Oktober will have Paulaner.
