Sommelière swaps Ambev for brigadeiros with beer – 03/22/2024 – Full Glass

If there are several beers with chocolate notes, why not a chocolate with a beer presence? Yes, they exist in droves and in small portions too, like at Beergadeiro, which produces brigadeiros with the drink.

The idea for the brand came from sommelière Bia Macedo (no relation to this humble blogger), who has worked in the beer world since she was 19 years old and, in 2017, started making the treat using beers in her hometown, Ribeirão Preto, in interior of São Paulo.

“It took 24 hours between the idea and the first sale, and less than a month later I took the brigadeiro to my first beer event,” he says.

In 2018, Bia started working at Toca do Urso, within the Colorado brewery, which belongs to the Ambev portfolio.

“I joined Ambev as a sommelière. I stayed at Toca for four years and left there as a ‘customer experience’, I took care of everything related to the customer experience, including tours of the factory and calendar of events”, he states. Since last year, Bia decided to leave the brewery and dedicate herself fully to her life as a freelancer and digital influencer, with the Beergadeiro brand.

There are three fixed options on the menu: the chocolate brigadeiro, made with Black Cat beer, a black IPA from Invicta; coffee, which includes Demoseille, a porter from Colorado, in the formula; and the Ninho milk with strawberry, which uses doppelbock from the Walfänger brewery — the unit costs R$6.

There are also seasonal versions, such as brigadeiro with paçoca and Demoseille beer, made during the June festivals. Bia also uses Black Cat beer to make the beer brownie.

For now, production is homemade and limited to Ribeirão Preto, with no immediate delivery to other cities. But it is also possible to find Bia (and the brigadeiro) at beer events, such as the recent edition of All Beers Session, in February.

This Easter, the sommelière/confectioner put together special boxes and even pairing kits — with beer and chocolate, obviously. For more information, see the profile @beergadeiro016, on Instagram.
