Solar energy generation is an alternative to avoid heat and reduce costs

High temperatures, with records in several regions of Brazil, and electricity bills rising at the same rate. To escape the heat, many people have resorted to using air conditioning, equipment that increases energy consumption and weighs on the budget.

For those who want to use the device without guilt, mini energy generation from a photovoltaic source has been an alternative. The amount invested in the set of equipment has become increasingly accessible and has become an ally for families and companies to overcome heat waves at any time of the year. This is because solar energy, in addition to being renewable, provides a reduction of up to 95% in electricity bills and the plants have a useful life of approximately 25 years.

The demand for credit for this purpose is growing throughout the country and recently Sicredi surpassed the mark of R$ 1 billion in portfolio balance in the states of Amazonas, Rondônia, Pará, Mato Grosso, Acre, Amapá, Roraima and some cities in Goiás. Across the country, the balance exceeds R$5.8 billion. A thermometer of this search for financing for solar energy is the jump recorded in the balance in four years, when the value quadrupled in the region. It went from R$258.1 million in 2020 to R$1.024 billion in 2023, an expansion of 296%.

In Amazonas, where Sicredi opened its first branch in 2020, the balance shows significant growth. It recorded R$913 thousand in 2021 and this year it reached R$2.720 million, an increase of 198%. Across the country, growth was 270.5%, going from R$1.588 billion in 2020 to R$5.885 billion in 2023. Agility in analyzing and granting credit, attractive interest rates and terms, in addition to partnerships with Suppliers have motivated members to invest in their own energy generation from solar sources, also adhering to the green footprint that is currently being promoted.

At Sicredi, members who wish to purchase equipment and technology to capture solar energy in their homes, businesses or rural properties have different conditions and payment terms of up to 120 months. Various resources necessary for the installation of solar energy technology to generate electrical energy, such as mounting systems, inverters and capture panels, can be financed.

“In times of unbearable heat, energy consumption increases and weighs heavily on your pocket. To mitigate the climate and expenses, solar energy has been an alternative and at Sicredi we have lines of credit for members to acquire technology to use a renewable source in their home, business or rural property, also contributing to the environment”, says Mayara Oliveira, Business consultant at Sicredi, stressing that the generation of electrical energy from renewable sources such as the sun (photovoltaic) and wind (wind) is a global trend.

Electricity generation in Brazil

Electricity generation from solar sources is expanding in Brazil, with very favorable prospects for the coming years. Coming from a renewable and inexhaustible source of energy, it is non-polluting, requires little maintenance in its production plants and is already the 2nd main Brazilian energy matrix, accounting for 15.4% of generation, behind only hydro which accounts for 50.1%. % of the total volume of energy generated in the country.

A survey by the Brazilian Photovoltaic Solar Energy Association (Absolar) shows that in September, Brazil had an installed capacity of 33.7 gigawatts, of which 23.364 GW of distributed generation (69%) and 10.393 GW of centralized generation (31%). In comparison with the same period last year, when installed power was 18.6 GW, the increase is 81%, which proves the promising scenario for this segment.

When considering the consumption class, the Absolar survey indicates that residences hold the largest share of installed power, with 11.4 GW (49%), followed by commerce and services with 6.5 GW (28%), by the class rural with 3.4 GW (14%), and industrial with 1.6 GW (7.1%). In terms of number of systems, the order is the same with a total of 2.106 million installations, 1.652 million of which are in homes, 228.4 thousand in commercial establishments and service providers, 184.7 thousand in rural properties and 34.2 thousand in industries.

Generation by state

In Absolar’s state ranking of distributed generation, Amazonas appears in 24th place, with 138 MW (0.6% share). The top five positions go to São Paulo (3,164 MW/13.5%), Minas Gerais (3,141 MW/13.4%), Rio Grande do Sul (2,407 MW/10.3%), Paraná (2,253/9, 6%) and Mato Grosso (1,368 MW/5.9%).
