Manaus (AM) – Sicredi participates in the mobilization of Day C (Cooperate Day), an initiative led by the OCB System (Organization of Cooperatives in Brazil) to commemorate the International Day of Cooperatives, celebrated annually on the first Saturday of July. This year, the date falls on the 1st, when the cooperative financial institution will carry out social responsibility actions in various regions of Brazil through its cooperatives and will launch the Volunteer Movement, which aims to further encourage the carrying out of voluntary actions during the year all.
“Day C is an extremely relevant initiative as it mobilizes volunteers throughout the country in favor of social transformations. That’s why we chose the month of July to launch our Volunteer Movement, aiming to consolidate the actions already carried out in our cooperatives throughout the year and mobilize more people to generate small and large transformations. Through the Movement, we want to stimulate and promote actions to increase the positive impact in the regions where we are present”,
says Romeo Balzan, Superintendent of Cooperativism and Sustainability at Sicredi.
In Amazonas, the cooperative Sicredi Vale do Cerrado will have a stand at the event that will take place at Arena da Amazônia, on Avenida Constantino Nery, on Saturday (1st), with a varied program for all ages. In the space, Sicredi Vale do Cerrado will be offering the public various actions such as an instagrammable space for photos, showing films about financial education for children, and raising awareness about how to avoid digital and telephone scams.
Guidance on the importance of solar energy as a renewable source can also be obtained at the cooperative’s stand. There are several advantages of choosing solar energy, among them, the low maintenance of equipment; the energy bill protected from energy inflation; the valuation of the property, since sustainable properties value up to 30%; and energy independence, in which the consumer reduces his dependence and costs with the electricity grids of concessionaires.
“Sicredi develops volunteer activities throughout the year because it feels like part of the community where it operates. The economic and social development of localities is part of our work, and volunteering is an initiative that we practice and encourage, because we believe that volunteering can transform people’s reality”,
says Sicredi’s Regional Development Manager, Rudinei Kronbauer.
C-Day in 2022
On Day C in 2022, Sicredi carried out more than 550 activities such as lectures on financial education, revitalization of public spaces, donation of basic food baskets, among others. Over the course of last year, around 3,500 volunteer actions were promoted, which benefited approximately 540,000 people and mobilized more than 50,000 volunteers.
Volunteer Movement
With the motto “Cooperate to change the world”, the Volunteer Movement embodies Sicredi’s commitment to the United Nations (UN) Global Compact, which aims to encourage companies to adopt corporate social responsibility and sustainability policies. For 2023, in addition to lectures, workshops and actions related to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Sicredi will provide various support materials to volunteers.
The Movement is an initiative that aims to promote voluntary service in a systematic and more effective way, involving employees, associates and the community for a citizen action, through solidary actions aligned with local development.
