The group aims to deepen the creative possibilities of percussion course students

Manaus City Hall, through the Municipal Department of Education (Semed), held, on the night of this Friday (10), the show “Legends” in celebration of the 20 years of existence of the Curumim na Lata Alternative Percussion Group, in auditorium of the Aníbal Beça Municipal Art-Education Center (Cmae), located in the São José 3 neighborhood, East Zone of Manaus.

The group aims to deepen the creative possibilities of percussion course students through experimenting with sound alternatives, based on the reuse of recyclable materials, working to preserve the environment and expanding possibilities for sustainability on the planet, based on in musical language as a pedagogical tool in the artistic, cognitive, emotional and aesthetic development of the student in the teaching-learning process as a whole.

“The group represents something very good for the Aníbal Beça arts center, due to the fact that it brings the proposal of environmental education combined with musical education, but it also takes the proposal of this environmental education to schools in the neighborhood, especially municipal schools. , the respect that the student must have for the environment, the issue of sound, music, in addition to everything, it facilitates the understanding of mathematics, through musical notes, in short. And there is all the pedagogical work that is developed in the group as well”,

highlighted the coordinator of Cmae Aníbal Beça, Jorge Farache.

History

On this cultural walk, several musical and artistic pedagogical presentations consolidate the proposal for environmental sustainability in the city of Manaus by the Curumim na Lata group, with the partnership of companies and the community in general.

The group has performed at the Teatro Amazonas, at the Ponta Negra amphitheater, at the Manaus City Council (CMM), at national and international music meetings held in Manaus, and even had a short film telling its trajectory written at the film festival Student World Impact, presented in Canada with the participation of 120 other countries.

The founder and creator of the group is professor Carlos Valdez. For the music educator, his greatest satisfaction is seeing the transformation of the lives of students who are and have been through the project over 20 years.

“My greatest satisfaction is seeing the transformation of children and adolescents. Seeing students involved in good things, former students who went through the group, going to college, graduating in music. An example of this is that one of the music producers of today’s show studies music at UEA (Federal University of Amazonas). In other words, we really have a lot to celebrate, mainly because over these 20 years we have managed to transform the lives of people on the outskirts, be it in the human, personal and even professional aspects”,

Valdez said.

According to former student Adailson Silva, the group Curumim na Lata was the beginning of everything in his musical and professional life.

“Curuim was the beginning of everything, it was where I started, where I discovered basic principles of music, where I learned rhythm and how to read music. And I can say that Curumim na Lata was a showcase, an opportunity for me to realize that what I really wanted was to be a professional musician”,

he stated.

There are also students who joined the musical project this year and who already have something positive to say about it, like little Ester Silva, 10 years old, fourth year student at the municipal school Honorina de Vasconcelos.

“The group helped me achieve a dream I had for some time, which was to learn music. And I feel super fulfilled and good in the group, so I intend to make the most of everything curumim can offer me”,
