Miss Universe – Sheynnis Palacios Miss Universe 2023 – Reproduction Miss Universe has a new name: Nicaraguan Sheynnis Palacios, 23 years old. It is the first time that Nicaragua has won the contest. The 72nd Miss Universe contest took place on Saturday (18) and made history in El Salvador. Sheynnis took the place that belonged to 29-year-old American R’Bonney Gabriel. Thai Anntonia Porsild, aged 27, came in second place. Australian Moraya Wilson, 22 years old, came third. Miss Maria Brechane represented Brazil in the competition, but did not qualify among the semifinalists. This year’s competition had changes. In August 2022, Miss Universe announced changes to the rules, starting to accept not only trans women, but also pregnant women, those who have children and who were or are married. The announcement was issued by the competition’s CEO, Amy Emmerich. Another new feature is that the competition will also start accepting women over 28 years old. In 2023, the competition featured for the first time two mothers, two trans women and a 30-year-old woman in the same edition. The rule change is one of the biggest twists in the history of the competition, which previously only allowed single women, aged between 18 and 28, who had never been married or had children.
