Manaus (AM) — After traveling through 19 Brazilian cities, the “Serasa na Estrada” project truck makes its last stop in Manaus, Amazonas. Since August 2023, the caravan has been providing free services to improve the population’s financial health.

In Manaus, where the project has support from the City Hall, face-to-face service will take place at Praça da Matriz, on Avenida Eduardo Ribeiro, Centro, from Tuesday (20) to Friday (23), from 9am to 6pm, and on Saturday (24), from 9am to 1pm.

The capital concentrates a large part of defaulters in Amazonas. There are 1,080,222 people in this situation, whose debts total more than 5.6 billion. On average, each debtor in the capital has R$5,228.00 in debt. Across the State, the number of defaulters reaches 1,527,467, corresponding to 51.41% of the population.

The majority of debts in Amazonas are concentrated in three sectors: Retail (27.71%), Banks and Cards (24.96%), and Utilities, basic water, electricity and gas bills (16.29%). Among the most defaulting age groups, the group between 26 and 40 years old (35.8%) stands out, followed by the population between 41 and 60 years old (35.1%) and people over 60 years old (15.1%) and up to 25 years (14%).

“We close this stage of the Serasa na Estrada project passing through an important and symbolic Brazilian capital”,

says Clara Aguiar, specialist in Financial Education at Serasa.

“Our goal is to provide face-to-face services and guidance on how to deal with money, especially for those who have limited digital access or little affinity and trust in the internet.”
