Senate rapporteur accepted 255 of the 802 amendments to the tax reform text

The objective is that together, the Tax on Goods and Services (IBS) and the Contribution on Goods and Services (CBS) do not exceed 25%. “Our intention is to ensure that the population is assured that they will not be afflicted with an excessive tax rate, impacting the price of the goods and services they consume”, stated Efraim. “If the State wants more resources to implement public policies, we hope that it will do its homework and expand its investment capacity by reducing unnecessary expenses and waste of public funds. In other words, we call for more efficiency”, concluded the senator. Senate committee discusses tax reform Another proposal accepted, suggested by senator Laércio Oliveira (PP-SE), reduces the tax rate for all types of public passenger transport. On the other hand, among those rejected are proposals such as that of Senator Jorge Kajuru (PSB-GO), which excluded private pensions administered by non-profit institutions from the concept of financial services. The proposal by senator Izalci Lucas (PSDB-DF), which intended to reduce the transition period from 50 to 30 years, was also rejected. A proposal to exempt the market for ornamental flowers and plants was presented five times and was rejected each time by the rapporteur. Amendments by party Among the political parties, the PSD, the party of the president of the Senate, was the one that had the most amendments accepted by the rapporteur. In total there were 48. Next comes the PL, party of former president Jair Bolsonaro, with the most proposals accepted, 35. The PT was the party that had the most amendments accepted among all those it presented.
