The senators of the Economic Affairs Commission (CAE) of the Federal Senate approved, this Tuesday morning (16), an invitation for the president of Petrobras, Jean Paul Prates, to explain the changes in the price policy announced earlier, which will replace to the current import parity model.

Alessandro Vieira (PSDB-CE), author of the application, the objective is to understand what will be the impact of changes in the management and results of the state-owned company, and the practical effect of the measure.

“No company can operate on the basis of excessive prices, which squeeze the consumer, much less with undersized prices that destroy the company. So, we want to confirm that Petrobras’ intention is to function as an efficient and qualified company,” he said.

As this is an invitation and not a summons, Prates may have no obligation to participate in the Senate session. There is still no forecast date for hearing the president of the state-owned company.
