With the “Pink and Blue Movement: together for the elderly”, the State Secretariat of Justice, Human Rights and Citizenship (Sejusc) ended the month of October with activities aimed at the elderly, this Tuesday (31), offering vaccinations, exams, zumba classes and a snack shared among participants in the Idoso Ativo program.
Organized by the Deputy Executive Secretariat for the Rights of the Elderly (Seadpi), the action took place from 7am to 12pm, at the Integrated Care Center for the Elderly and People with Disabilities (CECIPcD) on Rua Marquês Quixeramobim, 210, Conjunto Parque das Laranjeiras, central zone south of Manaus, space open for a month.
The action addressed the prevention of breast and prostate cancer, promoting awareness, education, access to preventive exams and the adoption of healthy habits. The coordinator of the group “Unidos em Cristo” and the Permanent Forum for the Elderly of the State of Amazonas, Valcylene de Oliveira, says that the action offered exactly what the elderly were looking for.
“It’s been really cool, they are doing activities, then they go to the doctors and we are here in the vaccine queue, because the vaccine is important, in this case, I’m going to travel and I need to get vaccinated beforehand and also be an example for them don’t be afraid of the vaccine”,
highlights Valcylene.
The services offered were made available by the UBS Nilton Lins group in partnership with Sejusc. The executive secretary for the Rights of the Elderly, Anne Alves, stressed that the date was chosen in reference to Pink October and Blue November.
“We thought about this date, the 31st, thinking about this transition from the month of October to the month of November, providing health and leisure activities for these elderly people, who are the participants in Vida e Saúde do Idoso Ativo, a project of the Government of State of Amazonas, which provides a multidisciplinary team to serve the elderly in all areas”,
pointed out Anne.
About CeciPcD, a new space where “Pink and Blue Movement” was carried out, the secretary highlighted that it was designed to unite two Sejusc audiences that most need accessibility.
“It is a space where we will serve elderly people and people with disabilities, also providing water aerobics classes. It is a space for the elderly, for them to feel at ease, to feel welcomed. The elderly department never had a space to bring these elderly people and participate in activities”concluded.
