Second selection of #SouManaus 2023 includes circus and theater artists

Action strengthens local culture

Of the five local artists selected in the second call for Sou Manaus Passo a Paço 2023, three are circus and theater artists. In the circus category, the winners were Cia. Amazonian Culture and the Association of Circus Artists. In theatrical terms, the chosen company was Arte e Fato.

Under the direction of Douglas Rodrigues, one of the presentations by the company Arte e Fato is the work of Márcio Souza: The Wonderful Story of Sapo Tarô Bequê. Already the Cia. Cultura Amazônica will bring to the public acrobatics in fabric, lyre and sash, in addition to balancing and pirofagia, among others.

The CEO of the Municipal Foundation for Culture, Tourism and Events (Manauscult), Osvaldo Cardoso, spoke about strengthening local culture, giving space to artists registered at Manauscult, but also indicated by the public on social networks.

“Our main objective is to increasingly strengthen local culture, Manaus artists. In addition to analyzing the portfolios of artists registered at Manauscult, the curatorship also analyzes the mentions on social networks in the official channels of Manaus City Hall and Manauscult. In this way, we are being democratic to choose not only the artist who is ‘fit’, but also the request of the public on social networks ”, she pointed out.

For the cultural producer and manager of Cia. Amazon Culture, Igor Palhano, receiving the call from President Osvaldo confirming the company at Sou Manaus 2023 was an honor. He promises to brighten the event even more with the company’s presentations.

“We are very happy, feeling very honored with the confirmation of our name at Sou Manaus 2023, which is a beautiful event by the City of Manaus, which does so much good for people, for society and which promotes culture. The public will have the opportunity to have contact with different circus techniques, from local artists, such as Jean Palladino, Klindson Cruz, Francine Marrie, Marcos Efraim, Karine Magalhães and other great names of circus art in Manaus. It will be an amazing show circuit”, he highlighted.

Two other names selected in the second call were singer-songwriter George Japa and drag queen Aurora Borealis. In all, there are more than 600 cultural workers involved in Sou Manaus 2023.
