After registering a record net withdrawal for the month in February, the savings account closed March with a still expressive volume of redemptions, but far from the highest value ever seen in the period, showed data from the Central Bank released this Thursday (6) .
The financial investment most sought after by Brazilians suffered a net withdrawal of BRL 6.087 billion last month, after a loss of BRL 11.515 billion in February.
The largest net withdrawal ever recorded for March was BRL 15.356 billion in 2022, a year that ended with a record total redemption of BRL 103.237 billion.
Last month, withdrawals exceeded deposits in the SBPE (Brazilian Savings and Loan System) by R$ 5.665 billion. In rural savings, net outflows were R$ 422.4 million.
In the year, savings accumulated a loss of R$ 51.233 billion. The movement of withdrawals occurs in the midst of a scenario of high interest rates, which reduces the competitiveness of savings compared to other investments.
