Sandy and Lucas Lima detail separation: ‘Mature decision’

The singer started the subject by explaining that her friendship with her ex-husband still exists

Singers Sandy and Lucas Lima, who announced their divorce last Monday (25), gave more details about the separation in an interview with High hours, which aired on Saturday night (30). The couple had been together for 24 years and are parents of a boy, Theo, aged 9.

Presenter Serginho Groisman highlighted that the participation of the now ex-couple was confirmed even before the divorce was announced. The singer started the subject by explaining that her friendship with her ex still exists.

“It’s really not an easy thing to do. Everyone doesn’t know how to behave. We’re like: ‘My God, and now, everyone is looking at us, what are we going to do, what are we going to say’?”, he began.

“But there is a friendship, an intimacy, a love of 24 years. This will never change. For me and him, it’s not strange at all for us to be here. We love each other very much, we are best friends and that is how we will continue to be. We have a beautiful fruit, the materialization of this love, which is our nine-year-old son, who is the priority”, continued the singer.

Lucas then commented that the decision was not made overnight.

“It’s a decision we made a long time ago. We needed to organize ourselves internally, Teo, structure, organize our family so that we had the resources to bring this news to the rest of the world, which is an extremely uncomfortable thing to do, on an intimate level, but which We understand that it has to belong to the world, too,” he said.

“It was a long process, with a lot of conversation, and we discovered a different affection. A couple that has children never separates. We are giving new meaning to this love, and we are doing well”, said the musician, who also mentioned that the decision had been made about a month and a half ago. “You don’t need to give numbers, but it’s been a while,” Sandy added.

“It wasn’t anything impulsive, really. We don’t go out and communicate it to people when we make the decision, people keep speculating, this just gets in the way. Everything is fine between us, it’s a mature decision”, revealed Sandy.

Lucas Lima then highlighted that they spoke to other couples of friends to understand what they were feeling at the moment.

“We have been talking to other friends, we see that what we are going through, what we felt, is not unusual. A lot of people feel it. But it’s very difficult for us to end a relationship in a place like this,” she revealed.

“Usually people end up needing to take and wear down this relationship until the point of anger, a fight, and use that as fuel to make that decision,” he continued.

“We didn’t let it get to that point. We did it at the right time,” agreed Sandy.
