Today, gyms are in great demand and reach a varied audience.

The world has changed drastically post COVID 19. This pandemic revealed socioeconomic ills and caused profound damage to humanity, rapid destruction in various sectors of human life.

Since then, contemporary societies have spared no effort to mitigate the impacts caused by this pandemic. They try to reestablish socioeconomic activities, and the balance of public accounts, fundamental for collective health!

The pandemic caused rapid transformations in daily life. After social isolation, many began to place greater emphasis on socializing and practicing physical activity. They sought spaces for movement, such as: squares, beaches, community centers, clubs, studios and gyms.

Today, gyms are in great demand, reach a varied audience and serve all social classes. But not everything is perfect! In addition to the difficulty of maintaining student loyalty, other problems arise. Recently, social media publicized very serious accidents, where clients suffered injuries manipulating weight training equipment, shocking Brazilian society.

But who supervises the academies? Which bodies are responsible for safety and good practices in this health segment? – Today’s chronicle seeks to expand the discussion, regarding basic care, so that society uses these spaces with pleasure, quality and safety.

All bodies that serve the consumer relationship can be part of this society protection network, in fact it is a duty! PROCON, City Hall and Health Surveillance, Fire Department and CREF (Regional Physical Education Council), etc.

– PROCON must monitor the packages or plans offered, some do not make this consumption relationship clear, and may appear to be a “bundled sale”, which is prohibited by law!

– Health Surveillance and City Hall must focus on the hygiene of the space offered; in the appropriate ventilation of the place (still, but in this heat); as well as the operating license, among others. It is the responsibility of the Fire Department to monitor whether the locations have emergency exits and various safety measures.

Another entity in this network is CREF, a professional association for Physical Education Professionals. – He supervises and guides the exercise of the profession. Ensures the rights and quality of services provided by Physical Education Professionals, in defense of society.

Based on these premises, do your part and be a proactive consumer! You must monitor:

– If the establishment is registered with CREF/CONFEF and has a technical manager. (Students should not be alone in the room, nor manipulate the equipment, without the guidance of physical education professionals).

– If the gym requests a medical certificate; periodic physical assessment is carried out.

– Check that the environments are clean; appliances sanitized and in good condition, etc.

Dear readers! These are some points, which I consider fundamental among other subjective ones. But, never give up monitoring the services that the gyms provide to you. This way you will be contributing to improving the quality of the work offered.
