Rural producers from Brazil conquer the market in the Middle East Who knew that the açaí produced by riverside communities, in Pará, would be successful in snack bars in Dubai? This was one of the curiosities that Globo Rural found during a trip to the United Arab Emirates, at the invitation of the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil). Our team visited a major food fair in Dubai that showcases products from around the world with the potential to be sold to the Arab countries. Muslims, by the way, represent a market with almost 2 billion people. There was a lot of curiosity at the fair: black garlic from Estonia, giant walnut from Ukraine, peanuts from Afghanistan and, of course, Brazilian products. Brazil, by the way, already has a significant share in this market, mainly in the export of chicken meat which, during the event, was served in the traditional Syrian bread. Açaí in Dubai Açaí do Pará is successful in Dubai To arrive in Dubai, açaí from Pará spends 45 days on a ship. This food, so common in Brazil, was taken to the United Arab Emirates by a Brazilian businessman, in 2008. At the beginning, it was very difficult to gain market, since no one knew about açaí in the region, but today it is already successful. On the way back from the trip, Globo Rural went to meet who produces the açaí that travels for so many days. Check out the full report in the videos above.
