Rua Pais de Araújo becomes a gastronomic route in Itaim Bibi – 03/01/2024 – Restaurants

Just 200 meters long, Rua Pais de Araújo has become a gastronomic corridor in Itaim Bibi. Located between two of the main roads in the west zone neighborhood, Pedroso Alvarenga and Tabapuã, it has a dozen restaurants, bars and cafes, many of which opened in recent months.

Quiet and tree-lined, it has attracted renowned chefs, such as the Spaniard Oscar Bosch, owner of four businesses in the capital of São Paulo, and Thomas Troisgros, son of Claude Troisgros. One of the first known names to move there was Luiza Hoffmann, who opened Atto in 2022.

“At first, I was a little afraid because the street was very residential and quiet, but I saw a lot of potential, because it is in the center of Itaim. Afterwards, I had no doubt that it would explode here”, says the chef. She chose a special property, which was the home of actress Cacilda Becker, a lady of the national theater.

The street is also two blocks from Avenida Faria Lima, an important financial route, and attracts employees from companies in the region, who fill the halls at lunch. At night, the scene changes and gets busy for happy hour and dinner.

Next, see what to visit in Pais de Araújo, the first route to participate in a series of reports from Sheet dedicated to streets in São Paulo that stand out for their history or news.

1 Mago
It is one of the oldest restaurants on the street, having been in operation for seven years. It combines Japanese and Italian cuisine and serves à la carte and omakassê dishes (from R$123 to R$238) in a colorful room with Instagrammable decor. On the Italian side, the flagship is risotto, such as nero (R$96), prepared with squid ink and arugula pesto. A bar at the entrance warms up the evening and serves drinks, sake and wine.
