Robson Jesus, from O Nego Vai Longe, becomes a columnist for Folha – 10/31/2023 – Tourism

Digital entrepreneur and aspiring to be the fastest man to discover all the countries in the world, Robson Jesus from São Paulo is the new columnist for the tourism section of Sheet.
Its texts will be published biweekly, alternating with columns by journalist and traveler Zeca Camargo. The premiere will be on Wednesday (1st), in the digital version, and on Thursday (2nd), in the printed version.
At 34 years old, he estimates that he has already visited 135 of the 193 nations recognized by the UN thanks to his project O Nego Vai Longe, with which he also intends to become the first black man to achieve the feat of traveling to all countries.
Born in Osasco, in Greater São Paulo, Jesus has a degree in administration with a specialization in project management — titles always achieved with scholarships. He worked for ten years at the Hospital das Clínicas in São Paulo until he decided to give up everything to hit the road.
Before the adventure, he had already visited Argentina and lived in the United States for a year, in 2018, to learn English. That’s when he says he was “bitten by the travel bug”.
After a few years of planning, he embarked in March 2022 for Thailand, the starting point of his journey — which should last more than two years, ending in 2024. If everything goes according to plan, he hopes to beat the American’s record Yili Liu, who took three years and three months to visit every nation on the globe.
“Until the other day, almost no black person was able to buy a plane ticket in Brazil. In some countries, just skin color could be a deterrent to immigration,” he says. “In my column, I want to report not only my travel stories, but those of other Brazilians who have thrown themselves into the world and are also breaking barriers, records, and entrepreneurship.”
Right now, Robson Jesus is traveling through West Africa, visiting some of the poorest countries on the planet. From there, he must return to Asia and head to Oceania, always sharing his adventures on his Instagram @onegovailonge and, now, also on this Sheet.
