Urucungo – Fabiana Cozza – The singer from São Paulo exposed the beauty and political strength of Nei Lopes’ black art in an album with songs unreleased songs by the now octogenarian Bamba from Rio. 2. Beauties are things lit from the inside – Filipe Catto – The singer evoked the transgressive soul of Gal Costa (1945 – 2022) in an album with rock energy that became one of the modern jewels of Brazilian discography in 2023. 3. Marquês, 256 – Zé Ibarra – In the first solo album of his career, the member of the band Bala Quero confirmed himself as a sensitive interpreter in an audiovisual recording of voice and guitar, captured on the stairs of a building in Rio de Janeiro (RJ). 4. Afeto – Homage Carlos Lyra 90 years – Various artists – Formidable melodist, Carlos Lyra (1933 – 2023) left in December, but he had time to listen to this reverent tribute to the composer of so many of the most beautiful things in Brazilian music. 6. Afro-Brazilian choral singing – Tincoãs – Created in 1982 and recorded in 1983, this Tincoãs album remained unreleased for 40 years. But it was finally released and intoxicated by mixing Afro-Brazilian singing with North American gospel. 7. Xande sings Caetano – It worked and sounded beautiful. Xande sings Caetano within and beyond samba. 8. Villain – Ludmilla – In a powerful album, Ludmilla presented a mix of funk, trap and R&B. Without abandoning the Numanice pagoda tour, the artist from Rio de Janeiro gave a seductive hello to the pop world. 9. Negra Opera – Martinho da Vila – In the most cohesive album of the last decade of Bamba Fluminense’s discography, Martinho faced death as a recurring theme in the narrative of popular opera and confirmed himself as a hero of freedom and resistance. 10. Call me a cat and I’m yours – Ana Frango Elétrico – In the third and most interesting album, the artist from Rio valued a good original repertoire with creative arrangements of strings and brass. In terms of orchestration, the album was exquisite.
