A survey by the Boa Vista credit bureau to be released this Tuesday (18) points to a further decline in demand for credit in the non-financial segment, which includes large retail chains.
The data, referring to the month of March, point to a reduction of 4.8% in demand in the accumulated of the last 12 months. In the first quarter of this year, the indicator decreased by 0.1% compared to the previous three months.
Rafael Ciampone, an economist from Boa Vista, attributed the scenario to factors such as the closing of stores in the pandemic and the increase in interest rates.
“The non-financial curve slowed down, last year, it went downhill and has continued like this. The strong increase in interest rates makes consumers more apprehensive when it comes to taking out credit, even if they need it,” says Ciampone.
