The Department of Tourism and Travel of the state of São Paulo says that in 2023 it recorded its highest number of works delivered in the last five years. By the end of December, 101 tourist infrastructure projects will have been inaugurated and R$297 million will have been invested in the São Paulo sector.
According to the ministry, 75 municipalities in the interior and coast of the state were awarded the improvements. One of the new tourist works considered in this wave is the replica of Rome’s Trevi Fountain, which gained its São Paulo version in Serra Negra, 140 km from the capital.
Since it opened in May this year, the attraction has brought around 300,000 visitors to the city known for its coffee production and cold clothing trade, says the Tourism Department.
Started in February 2022, the work had a total cost of R$1.6 million. The project is 11 meters high and 20 meters wide, which is equivalent to around 40% of the monument used as a reference.
Instead of rocks and marble, present in the original work, the main material used in the construction of the monument was Styrofoam, with a fiberglass coating, as shown in the Sheet.
The Tourism Secretariat’s survey for 2023 also considers investments aimed at revitalization, such as the one that occurred in the Rocha Moutonnée park, in Salto. The process would have caused the number of tourists there to triple, reaching the mark of 64 thousand visitors from 295 cities in less than two months.
The Department of Tourism and Travel states that the Campinas region recorded the highest number of works delivered. The municipalities of Buritama, Nazaré Paulista, Divinolândia, Morungaba, Pedrinhas Paulistas and Itu appear next.
