rent readjustment index falls 1.93% in June and accumulates decrease in 12 months

The General Price Index – Market (IGP-M), used in rent adjustments, had a drop of 1.93% in June, according to data from the Brazilian Institute of Economics of the Getúlio Vargas Foundation (Ibre/FGV) released this Thursday. (29). The index accumulates a reduction of 4.46% in the year and 6.86% in 12 months (see full text).
The FGV report also points to a drop of 2.73% in the Broad Producer Price Index (IPA), with emphasis on the group of Finished Goods, with a retraction of 1.22% in June.
The main contribution to this result came from the subgroup of fuels for consumption, in which the rate changed from -1.27% to -10.56% in the same period. The index related to Finished Goods, which excludes the food subgroups in natura and fuels for consumption, fell 0.39% in June, after falling 0.09% in the previous month.
“On the consumer side, an index that fell by 0.25%, the main contributions came from gasoline prices (-3.00%) and new cars (-3.76%). In civil construction, the index increased by 0.85% due to the influence of labor prices, which increased by 1.81%. The change in materials, equipment and services fell by 0.09%”, explains André Braz, coordinator of the Ibre/FGV Price Indices.
