The steakhouse was born in 1988, in a tent with 14 straw stools, where Argentine Juan Levin sold choripan – a sandwich made with sausage, typical of Argentina – and also roasted chicken and ribs. “I brought with me the art of cutting, roasting and serving meat from the Argentine pampas, which is different from Brazilian barbecue. It was so successful that there was a queue”, says Levi. Over time, he expanded the business, renting rooms and placing more tables. In 1993, he bought the land where today is Churrasco Ao Vivo, in Florianópolis. “I built the custom-made steakhouse, with a cold room, an exceptional kitchen and capacity for 190 people. During the pandemic, I did a total renovation and changed the decor to a more sophisticated and modern style,” adds Juan.

Recently, Churrasco Ao Vivo gained a new unit in Balneário Camboriú, inaugurated by a franchisee, which follows the same standards of quality and tradition as the original restaurant.
