Quality Fair ends with Ronaldo Lemos talking about Artificial Intelligence in Manaus

Manaus (AM) – The last day of the Quality Fair, on Friday night (20), featured a lecture by specialist Ronaldo Lemos, who spoke about Artificial Intelligence (AI) and other technologies used in the world today. The Fair started last Tuesday (17th) and took place at Studio 5, in the South Zone of Manaus.

According to Ronaldo Lemos, a specialist in technology, innovation and the future, elected in 2015 by the WEF as one of the “Young Global Leaders”, data is generated at all times in our daily lives that talk about ourselves and our way of living.

“When we use a computer, it generates detailed data, just as we use a cell phone, or buy at the supermarket, when we talk to a speaker or when we walk on the streets, as some security cameras spread across the city generate data about us. We are living in the Data Age”,

explained.

When citing examples of connected devices that generate data, Lemos talked about a thermos connected to the Internet that measures the temperature of the drink and sends information to the cell phone if the drink is hot, for example. According to him, this bottle format serves to generate added value and what could previously cost 2 dollars can be charged at 37 dollars.

Currently on the rise, another topic addressed by Lemos was the use of AI. The lecture discussed the capacity developed by machines to function intelligently, remembering how humans act and think.

“AI will already be embedded in cell phones. Like coming with a virtual secretary, who will answer your calls and filter your important calls. Another simple point is to take a blurry photo and have your cell phone digitally correct it. Sound control, text adjustment, zoom, AI does all of this”,

he said.

But he warned: “Have you ever heard that data is like oil? Data today is a source of great wealth, but, like oil, data also leaks and causes environmental damage that is difficult to repair. There is no way to drain it, but the damage needs to be repaired. Data generates great power, but it generates great responsibilities”, he recalled when giving a spoiler about a program recorded in Manaus and which will air in November on the Fantástico program, on Rede Globo.

A lawyer by training, Lemos was one of the creators of the Marco Civil da Internet and co-author of the study that served as the basis for the National Plan for the Internet of Things (IoT).

In addition to keynote speeches by Cristiano Zanetta, the “Batman of Brazil”, and Carol Paiffer, the event featured exhibitions from dozens of companies and organizations operating in the Manaus Industrial Pole (PIM).

Balance of the Quality Fair

From October 18th to 20th, the Amazonas Quality Program Fair (PQA) presented visitors with a vast and diverse program, which included lectures with national personalities, as well as prominent businesspeople and academics.

It also featured a display of the 56 companies competing for the PQA Award (Amazon Quality Award) 2023 and stands of the organizations present. The initiative is from Fieam (Federation of Industries of the State of Amazonas), through Dampi (Department of Assistance to Medium and Small Industry) responsible for the Amazonas Quality Program (same acronym as the award), in partnership with Sebrae-AM (Service Brazilian Micro and Small Business Support – Amazonas Section).

Dampi’s manager, Erlen Montefusco, took stock of the days of programs and lectures.

“It was the result of planning that began last year, when the first edition ended. We thought about holding the fair in a larger space, precisely because of greater participation from companies. It was very positive, as we had the involvement of large companies and small companies. Our partnership with Sebrae/AM has been going on for over 30 years. We managed to bring national attractions, bring content to the people who were here in those days. We achieved our goal. It’s a new event of this format, of this size with the industry. Everyone was satisfied. Now it’s time to plan 2024”,

The Fair was held in the Pavilion of the Studio 5 Convention Center, which has 7,550 m² of exhibition area for the main companies and organizations in Manaus, has 85 stands, open area spaces, gourmet area, Instagrammable area, lounge, in addition to the plenary session for 3 thousand people.
