An unprecedented study carried out by the Institute of Supplementary Health Studies (IESS) states that, in Brazil, 80% of formal jobs with a formal contract in the area of health are located in the private sector.

Of the 4.7 million opportunities accounted for up to February this year, only 949,200 were linked to public bodies, according to the survey.
CUT OUT
Alone, the Southeast concentrates about half of the private health employment links, with 2.3 million professionals such as nurses, dentists, cleaners, administrative assistants, caregivers and office assistants in activity. The Northeast (932.7 thousand), South (695.4 thousand), Midwest (493.6 thousand) and North (272.8 thousand) regions follow.

Compared to last year, however, the study identified a decrease in vacancies in health in the Midwest (-0.9%), in the North (-0.6%) and in the Southeast (-0.4%).

“In the quarterly comparison, there was a slight reduction, of 0.3%, in the total volume of jobs generated”, says the executive superintendent of the IESS, José Cechin. According to the leader, the fall was driven by the public sector, which had a drop of 2.1% in its vacancies.
