The dialysis companies, which practically operate on the basis of the SUS, complain that the Ministry of Health does not have the resources to cover the increase in costs and claim that they will be forced to interrupt the services to the public network to avoid breakdowns.
Today, eight out of ten of its clients depart from the SUS, which, without its own structure, hires the private network to serve them. In all, there are 150,000 patients who use the service, including private individuals.
Represented by ABCDT (Brazilian Association of Dialysis and Transplant Centers), the companies say they are trying, without success, to open negotiations with the government for a real recovery of prices.
After six years without readjustments, in 2021 the government granted a 12% increase. According to the entity, anemic. This week, company representatives met with technicians from the Ministry of Health to resolve the impasse. They left the meeting fearful of the proposed 10.3% increase.
The association states that the gap in costs per patient already exceeds 50%. Currently, the government pays BRL 218 per treatment, but the total cost per session is BRL 303.
“This readjustment [feito em 2021] it was symbolic. It didn’t even cover our employees’ collective bargaining”, says Bruno Haddad, ABCDT advisory board member and CEO of DaVita, one of the largest companies in the sector.
Private hospitals and even Santa Casas also complain about the situation. They say that the SUS table is out of date because it did not keep up with the increase in inputs, medicines and procedures, impacted by the rise in inflation and the dollar during the pandemic.
Sought, the Ministry of Health did not manifest itself.
