Preview of June inflation rises 0.04% with rise in housing and personal expenses

The inflation preview for the month of June rose 0.04% according to IPCA-15 data released this Tuesday morning (27), by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE). The variation of the Extended Consumer Price Index was driven upwards mainly due to the increase in Housing (0.96%), Clothing (0.79%) and Personal Expenses (0.52%) in the period.
Of the nine groups surveyed by the IBGE, three had a negative change and held a greater rise in the IPCA-15: Transport (-0.55%), especially gasoline (-3.40%); Food and beverages (-0.51%) and Household items (-0.01%).
Also according to the institute, the high of 0.04% in June was lower than that registered in May, of 0.51%. In the accumulated quarterly, the so-called IPCA-E was 1.12%, lower than the rate of 3.04% registered in the same period last year.
In the last 12 months, the IPCA-15 variation was 3.40%, below the 4.07% observed in the immediately previous 12 months. In June 2022, the rate was 0.69%, completes the IBGE report (see full text).
The cities of Recife and São Paulo had the highest inflation rates in the period, at 0.45% and 0.23%, respectively. Brasília and Goiânia are the smallest, -0.28% and -0.66%, respectively.
