Carlos Melles left the presidency of Sebrae this Wednesday (29). He signed his resignation after pressure from the Lula government, which managed to call a meeting on the entity’s board for this Thursday (30) to remove him.
“I announce my resignation as CEO of Sebrae Nacional, a position I have held since March 2019. On this occasion, I express all my respect for the Sebrae System and in particular for small businesses”, said Melles in the letter signed at the end of the afternoon .
Considered a name of Jair Bolsonaro, Melles was elected to his second cycle in command of Sebrae at the end of last year. The term of office of the entity’s board, sworn in in January, ends in 2026, but Lula wanted to put in the presidency a name aligned with his policies.
According to Sebrae, this Thursday the deliberative council will choose an interim name for the position and, on the 10th, a new election will be held. Former federal deputy Décio Lima (PT) is the most likely to take over the vacancy.
