The show dialogues with diversity

Manaus (AM) – The Encontro das Águas series presented its first show of the 2023 season on Tuesday night (4), on the stage of Teatro Amazonas. The work “Divaland” colored one of the most important artistic spaces in the North of the country with a presentation that transited through the timeline of the pop world, inspiring bodies and realities to occupy prominence in art.

“It’s a project that we’ve been thinking about for five years and I think the series is now mature enough for us to dialogue with diversity, to bring on stage a range of artists who were looking for an opportunity and maybe didn’t have it”,

highlighted maestro Marcelo de Jesus.

“We auditioned for eight people and, in the end, we chose more than 20 and this diversity is represented in the show“, enumerated the artist.

For actress and singer Evelyn Felix, the event marked an affectionate encounter with her path in art.

“I’ve been embracing and experiencing diversity with people from other artistic bubbles, singers, actresses who sing, people who are auditioning and participating for the first time, so it’s a very genuine and pleasant exchange and I think it enhances the artist who takes advantage of this opportunity to see other people, listen to other experiences”,

emphasized.

The artist was chosen to interpret a pop hit by American singer Ariana Grande

“I never thought I would sing a song by an artist like her, so it was a challenge, there is constantly this performance challenge of dancing and singing and also having to interpret not only vocally but bodily and all of this is being new to me. me”,

finished Evelyn.

The artistic director of the show, Matheus Sabbá, also spoke about the production and construction of the work.

“The production process started with the curatorship, telling which musical numbers we thought were important and also from the bodies that we found in the audition”,

highlights Sabbá referring to the process that transformed the construction of the show into a moment of encounter.

During the show, figures who were revolutionary in the pop world were highlighted, from the Wizard of Oz, as an icon of hope for the LGBTQIA+ community, going to Dua Lipa who dialogues with the present.

“From meeting these incredible people, we realized how important it is to the purpose of the Encontro das Águas series, to be this stage for meetings, with responsibility and quality, opening this space shows the next generations that it is possible to occupy the space you want , you can dream, have artistic desires, as long as you find a collective that embraces you”,

“Divaland”, which features well-known songs by great pop music divas, has a second performance this Wednesday (5), at 8 pm, at Teatro Amazonas.
