There will be a total of 16 photos by Joedi Porto, who photographed the mothers at their homes next to their children

Manaus (AM) – With the name “Caring for those who care”, Shopping Ponta Negra and the State Department of Justice, Human Rights and Citizenship (Sejusc) are promoting, from May 4th to 21st, on the L2 floor, a photographic exhibition in honor of atypical mothers , those who take care of children with some type of disability.

There will be a total of 16 photos by Joedi Porto, who photographed the mothers at their homes next to their children. They are: Roseane, Theo’s mother; Lucia, mother of Laysa; Neide, mother of Lynnik; Luciana, Larissa’s mother; Larissa, mother of Ana Clara; Jordelania, Luana’s mother; Ivanilce, mother of Larissa; Idione, mother of Ingra; Orcenilda, Guilherme’s mother; Joana Darc, mother of Joaquim; Rosana, Stephanie’s mother; Graça, mother of Bárbara; Ana, mother of José Carlos; Socorro, mother of Alfredo; Joseane, Laura’s mother; and Rairane, Emanuel’s mother. All photographs will be displayed on eight totems on Floor L2, close to Vivara.

Joedi Porto is from Amazonas and has been photographing for 14 years. For him, the experience of photographing atypical mothers was unique.

“It was very interesting because it was possible to see the grandeur of a mother’s love. With all the difficulties they face; None lower their heads and all fight tirelessly for the rights of their children”, described Porto.

The community of atypical mothers was involved through disability rights activist and current Executive Secretary of Persons with Disabilities, Leda Maia.

“Our goal is to give visibility to atypical motherhood and pay homage to all the mothers whose main job is to take care of a child with a disability”, says Leda. She explains that the name of the exhibition is a response to the question: “Who takes care of the mother who lives to take care of a child?”. For Jussara Pedrosa, Secretary of State for Justice, Human Rights and Citizenship, valuing and guaranteeing the right of women, mothers, is the priority of all Sejusc departments.

The manager of Shopping Ponta Negra, Priscila Furtado, said that the exhibition comes at a special time, in the month when mothers are celebrated.

“It is an exhibition that shows how atypical mothers are protagonists in the struggle for the rights and well-being of their children. They deserve to be recognized, remembered and honored always”, she highlighted.
