Petrobras says there is no decision on Braskem – 06/13/2023 – Market

In a statement to the market this Tuesday (13), Petrobras reported that the executive board and the board of directors of the oil company have not made any decision on a possible process of disinvestment or increase of participation in the petrochemical company Braskem.

Last Saturday (10), Unipar communicated to the market that negotiations are progressing with Novonor, formerly Odebrecht, and with the contractor’s creditor banks about an operation for control of Braskem.

In the same statement, Unipar also said that it will negotiate its stake with Petrobras, “to the satisfaction of all parties involved”, and may “eventually include the renegotiation of the current Shareholders’ Agreement, among other relevant aspects, for its adequacy to the new structure of Braskem’s capital”.

Currently, Novonor holds 38.3% of the total capital of the petrochemical company, while Petrobras owns 36.1%.

According to Unipar’s internal data, the offer of BRL 35 per share is 40% higher than that recently presented by the state-owned company of the United Arab Emirates Adnoc and by the Apollo fund to control Braskem.

“At the present moment, Petrobras is developing analyzes to define the best alternative for executing its strategy, with no decision being made by the executive board or the board of directors in relation to the process of disinvestment or increase of participation in Braskem”, informed the oil company this Tuesday.

The state-owned company reinforced that the performance in the petrochemical sector is one of the elements of the oil company’s 2024-2028 Strategic Plan, approved by the board of directors and disclosed to the market in June of this year.

“The company clarifies that decisions on investments and divestments are based on careful analyzes and technical studies, in compliance with governance practices and applicable internal procedures”, completed Petrobras.
