Petrobras announced that it will reduce by R$ 0.18 the price of diesel sold to distributors starting this Thursday (23), going from R$ 4.02 to R$ 3.84 per liter. The information was disclosed on the morning of this Wednesday (22).

According to the state-owned company, the reduction aims to maintain “Petrobras’ price competitiveness compared to the main supply alternatives for our customers” and the “necessary market share for the optimization of refining assets”.

The state-owned company also says that “considering the mandatory mixture of 90% diesel A and 10% biodiesel for the composition of the diesel sold at the stations, Petrobras’ share in the consumer price will be, on average, R$ 3.45 for every liter sold at the pump”.

Last week, the government decided to increase the biodiesel composition from April from 10% to 12%, which will result in an increase of R$ 0.02 per liter sold at pumps.
