Embrapa Amapá coordinated a training course for tour guides at the “Arinaldo Gomes Barreto” Amazon Biopark, located in the south zone of Macapá (AP), on technical knowledge in various aspects related to the storm surge areas of the Igarapé da Fortaleza basin. This action is part of the project “Olhos D’água: Systems of wet areas of the Igarapé da Fortaleza basin”, which includes the delivery of a map of these undertows, to be displayed in the Biopark in an area that is easy for visitors to see.
The general manager of the research center, Antônio Claudio Almeida de Carvalho, and the director-president of Bioparque, João do Amaral Dias Neto, participated in the opening of the course; and the researcher Ana Euler gave a detailed presentation on the “Olhos D’água” project via videoconference from France, where she is meeting her agenda.

“The aim is to train guides to make visitors aware of the importance of undertow areas as “air conditioning” and “filter” of water at the service of the population. We only value what we know, hangovers are free services that nature offers us. Taking care of these environments is important for our quality of life”, highlighted Ana Euler.
