The mayor of Rio de Janeiro, Eduardo Paes (PSD), said this Wednesday (14) that the federal government agreed to limit flights at Santos Dumont Airport, in order to transfer part of the operation to Galeão Airport.
According to the mayor, Santos Dumont airport will only have air bridges from Rio to São Paulo and from Rio to Brasília. The remaining domestic flights will be transferred to Galeão. Paes predicts that the measures will come into effect from January.
Paes announced the changes to the Planalto Palace, after meeting with President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT). The mayor of Rio stated that the issue of the Galeão concession was not discussed with the representative.
