In São Paulo, 7,799 kg of beans, 14,565 kg of rice and 8,950 liters of olive oil were seized for fraud in the packaging industry. In addition to problems with the label, the inspectors identified packets of rice sold in basic baskets and a brand of beans on sale containing broken and burned products (as the product that is fermented inside is called, even if without changing the external color ) and mixed soybeans. Both in the case of rice and beans, the packaging indicated that they were type 1 products, a classification given to grains that meet strict quality criteria. An olive oil factory was banned in São Paulo by the state health surveillance, after irregularities were found in the labeling, lack of traceability in tanks with raw material indicated as olive oil. Inspectors are still analyzing the samples. The operation was coordinated by the Department of Inspection of Products of Plant Origin (Dipov) and also worked at the Companhia de Entrepostos e Armazéns Gerais de São Paulo (Ceagesp) in search of pesticide residues in fresh fruits and vegetables. In the Federal District, the operation was focused on roasted coffee. 2,093 packages of 500 grams that showed signs of containing foreign matter and impurities above the allowed by the ministry were withdrawn from sale.
