The survey also identified that 11% say they control their own money frequently

Most Brazilians are used to financial planning. The study “Regional Finance: differences in the relationship with money between the States of Brazil”, carried out by Serasa in partnership with Opinion Box, shows that six out of 10 people (56%) say they organize their finances monthly.

The survey also identified that 11% say they control their money frequently, but forget or skip a few months. Another 18% say they only organize their finances sporadically or when they feel the need. 15% of those interviewed say they are not used to worrying about the issue.

Paper notes (42%), card bill checking (33%) and online bank statement tracking (29%) are the most common methods. Spreadsheets (20%) and financial control applications (12%) are also part of Brazilians’ routine. Furthermore, 10% say they organize expenses using only their memory.

According to the Serasa study, consumers in Piauí have the highest national average in relation to monthly control of finances: 89%. Residents of São Paulo, Rio Grande do Sul and Goiás tied for second place, with 88%, followed by those from Santa Catarina and Paraná – both with 87%.

The populations of Rondônia (72%), Alagoas (78.5%) and Bahia (79%) are those who say they are least concerned about the issue. Consumers from Espírito Santo (80%) and Acre (80%) appear next.
